Safari Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Arusha – Tarangire National Park - Karatu

In the morning, there will be a very short brief about the safari schedule, including the day’s plan for the game drive’s timings, what is to be seen, and places to visit. After this short briefing, you will start the trip to the Tarangire National Park. You will arrive after a 2-3 hours’ drive from Arusha. The park is one of the most attractive parks in Tanzania, with a river which is the primary source of fresh water for graminivores, carnivores and various other common local wildlife. During the annual dry season (June – November), all animals are congregated in the park for fresh water – and so you will witness high densities of elephants, thousands of zebras, wildebeest, Cape buffalo, as well as lions, leopards, cheetahs, caracals, honey badgers, African wild dogs, waterbucks, giraffes, dik-diks, impalas, elands, grant gazelles, vervet monkeys, banded mongooses, olive baboons, and many others. What’s more, Tarangire National Park is a perfect place for bird-watchers with over 550 different bird species – including the Maasai Ostrich (the world largest bird). Around afternoon, you will stop at a suitable picnic place to have lunch. Then you will continue with more of wildlife viewing and exploration of the beauty in Tarangire National Park, including its beautiful baobab trees, termite mounds, granitic ridges, river valleys, swamps, and many other natural attractions surrounding the area.

In the evening, before sunset, and after having an epic day full of enjoyment – the game drives, having seen a variety of flora and fauna, you will be driven back to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay to Marera Valley Lodge in Karatu as the next stopover in this tour.

Marera Valley Lodge

If you’re on your way to Serengeti, Marere Valley Lodge is a must-see. The lounge is located very close to Karatu, on the way to the National Park and with easy access to the Ngorongoro Crater. The lodge is beautiful with its large rooms furnished with nice desks and fireplaces and offers amazing views over the plantation. Every room has two Queen Beds and is located in the romantic garden. Hot water is produced in a solar tank on the roof. There is also a chance to enjoy the swimming pool. The central part of Marere Valley Lodge features a new reception room, a bar and a dining room serving exquisite food. You can also buy some local souvenirs in a well-stocked gift shop. The lodge offers free and high-speed Wi-Fi to its guests.

Day 2

Karatu – Ngorongoro Conservation Area – Arusha

In the morning, breakfast will be served early at the lodge, followed by a very short brief about your tour’s schedule. Then you will be driven to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. On reaching the crater’s edge, the 19-km diameter caldera opens up before you in all its stunning glory, and you will descend into the crater on an adventurous trail. This World Heritage Site is seasonally home to over 25,000 animals, including a wide variety of birds, packs of hyenas, and the “Big Five” – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard. In the afternoon, while still being inside Ngorongoro conservation area, you will stop at a suitable place and be served a packed lunch before you continue with the adventure.

In the evening, after exploring the beautiful scenery in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, visiting the Maasai villages, and the adventure of experiencing a variety of habitats, dazzling and beautiful landscapes, as well as wildlife, you will be taken back to Marera Valley Lodge in Karatu for rest, dinner and the night.
